Bow chock is the boat hardware used to turn the direction of a lind and prevent chafing. Cast from 316 stainless steel, the bow chocks have greater corrosion resistance and will maintain a brighter finish.
Cast stainless steel bow chocks provide a smooth lead for your mooring or dock lines. These “fasten from the top” models incorporate generous soft internal radius edges to keep chafing to a minimum. They also feature a narrow jaw to keep lines in place.
Production Process: Stainless Steel Casting
Stainless steel casting in CFS Foundry is the lost wax investment casting process, that refers to the ceramics formed around the wax patterns to create a casing for molten metal to be poured. Once the wax patterns are created, they are melted onto a gate system, dipped into slurry and sand to form a layered casing, then replaced with the melted stainless steel.
The stainless steel casting process offers numerous benefits:
- Allows many intricate and complex forms to be cast
- The resulting parts have smooth surfaces with no parting lines.
- A vast array of stainless steel alloys can be used, including 304, 304L, 316, 316L, 17-4 ph, 2205, 2207, etc.
- Stainless steel parts have good dimensional accuracy.
- Allows for manufacturing in either low or high volume.
- Cost of production is reduced, since waste is minimal and it doesn’t require too much assembly.
- Logo can be added to the parts.
Due to its advantages, stainless steel casting is the common manufacturing process for marine hardwares, including boat bow chocks. 316 cast stainless steel bow chocks is extremely accurate and net shape. Additionally, marine grade cast stainless steel can help to achieve maximum corrosion resistance and durability, which is suitable for marine enviroment.
Surface Finish: Mirror Polished
The surface finish of bow chocks is mirror polished. Mirror polishing of cast stainless steel bow chocks can achieve a smooth, shiny mirror-like surface. There is a high requirement on the skill of polishing workers, only experienced polishing workers can polish out good quality products.
CFS Foundry offers stainless steel casting and mirror polishing for all your cast stainless steel marine boat parts. Our cast stainless stainless marine parts and deck hardware are corrosion resistant and rust proof. Besides chocks, we can also provide stainless steel investment castings for other boat hardware including hawse pipes, cleats, steering products, rod holders, hatches, deck pipes, etc. Any inquiry on stainless steel casting of bow chock or other products, pls feel free to contact our stainless steel foundry!
